We are pleased to present the LDS EVAL Tool System Evaluation application. This Readme file includes information on Installation, and provides Hints and Tips, Troubleshooting guides, and a list of resolved problems.

Recommended PC

We strongly recommend that you update your installation to the latest major release to ensure that the latest security updates from Microsoft® are supported by your installation.


Installing EVAL Tool

If you are installing from the USB:

  1. Insert the USB Stick.
  2. Run "VTS.Eval.Installer.msi" from the folder containing the installation files.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

If you have downloaded VCS from the Web:

  1. Extract the zip file.
  2. Run "VTS.Eval.Installer.msi" from the folder to which the data was extracted.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Installing Licence Keys

To retrieve your licence:

  1. The first time you launch the application, it will prompt you to request a licence file. This file must be requested via email, to '[email protected]'.
  2. Once received, copy the licence file to the installation directory where you installed the application e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\HBK UK\LDS Eval Software.

To renew your expired licence:

  1. If your licence has expired or about to expire, request a new one via the main menu 'Help | Request Licence', or click 'Yes' if prompted when the licence has expired.
  2. Follow the above procedure for emailing the licence request. Once received, copy it to the same location as your existing licence, replacing the old file.

Upgrading from a previous version:

  1. After installing an upgrade, the current licence file will be automatically selected and all previous settings retained.

Installation Troubleshooting

Antivirus software

If an unexpected dialog appears during installation, disconnect from the Internet and disable your antivirus software's real-time scanner. You should disconnect from the Internet before disabling part of your antivirus software to protect yourself from web-based attacks while the real-time scanning software is disabled. Your antivirus software's options can usually be displayed by clicking on its icon on the task bar.

Failed Installation

If you are experiencing issues when running the installation setup, try rebooting your PC, then run the installation again. If you continue to experience issues, remove any existing installations via Add/Remove Programs, then reboot and run the installation again.


Licence File

Ensure the licence file has been copied to the directory where you installed the application e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\HBK UK\LDS Eval Software.
